Last night as I was getting ready to fall sleep around 1:30am I saw something fly at me. Serious, I was sitting up typing the previous blog, and just after hitting send I see something fly at me. I freak out as I see it doing circles around the room. I quickly get out of the room and shut the door….
A few moments later I open the door and see a bat sitting on the window ledge. However the turning on of the lights startled it and caused it to take off again and I recoiled back closing the door.
To the internet!! I figured out how to catch this beast, and after putting on more clothes (my room is about 85f, so I have been sleeping in boxers sprawled accross the sheets) and my leather winter ski gloves I was ready to head back in, and praying I wouldn’t get bitten. He was no where, I was so confused, had he gotten out when I shut the door the time before and I hadn’t noticed? this is not good.
Well to make it shorter, it is now 7 am and I just found him between the screen and the window in the top corner. So now my window is shut and it’s hot in here still. I need to get up at 8 to make it to church on time and I’m exhausted, though with the sun already up I’m not sure if I’ll be getting much sleep or not.
Enough of the crazy nights. I don’t think I was bitten by the bat but I might have it checked for rabies anyway just to be safe. If it has been in the room more then one night it easily could have bitten me while I was sleeping. So prayers that I don’t get rabies this week would be great!
Let’s see…when I am up at the lake visiting my dad we often have to deal with bats. Of course, up there, that means getting out the tennis rackets and fishing nets and chasing after it all over the house…..none of this capture it and set it free stuff!
Bats flying in the house…..just another reason to keep your hair short!
